HOME

HOME. by definition home  is a “permanent structure” where people dwell.

i couldn’t wait to get my hands on our new humble abode in brooklyn, new york 9 months ago to creatively design our space challenged home with touches of familiarity. i love our home – – not only for the design details but for the lessons this humble space has taught me.

ironically – shortly after moving to new york, matt’s travel schedule sped up and he found himself splitting his time between los angeles and myrtle beach for his current show, welcome to myrtle manor. our new york experience – although chock full of challenges – has been the best thing for this  “bi-coastal family” and has allowed us to redefine the word home.

before moving to new york i was disillusioned to think that a strong woman could handle life on her own while “seeming” to have it all under control. our short time of brooklyn dwelling has completely shattered my prideful thinking and i have realized that in order to live a fuller more enriching life i have to accept that i cannot “do life” on my own. our friends {both in brooklyn and elsewhere} have offered us a community full of laughter, encouragement, support and have opened my eyes to the meaning of family – – giving insight to how we are called to live intentionally with each other.

the time that matt has been away has not been in vain. i am thankful that the distance has offered a different perspective of both of our contributions to our family, reminding us that our family does not work without the other.

although i love entering the doors of our humble abode – – this place is not my home – – rather matt, sophie + hazel are all the home i will ever need!

HOME

“Hold on, to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road

And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home”
